STARGAZER · EFFECTIVE 30 JULY 2026

Stargazer's privacy policy.

THE SHORT VERSION
Stargazer collects zero data. Nothing at all.No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, no servers of ours. Your location is used only on your device to work out what's overhead, and it never leaves it.
1. In one line

Stargazer collects nothing. There is no data for us to see, sell, lose or hand over — because we never collect any in the first place.

2. Information we collect

None. Stargazer has no user accounts and no sign-in, and includes no analytics tools and no advertising SDKs. We do not collect:

your name, email address, phone number or contacts;
usage or behavioural analytics, crash reports, or diagnostics;
advertising identifiers, device identifiers, or any tracking data;
photos, microphone or camera data, or your search history.

There is no profile of you anywhere, because we never built one — and we never want one.

3. Your location

To show the stars, planets and satellites genuinely above you, Stargazer reads your device's location, compass and motion. This all happens on your device, in real time, and is used only to compute the sky from where you're standing. Your location is never transmitted to us, never stored on a server, and never shared with anyone — there is no server, and there is no anyone. You can decline the location permission and set your place manually instead.

4. Nova — the on-device astronomer

Nova is powered by Apple Intelligence and runs entirely on your iPhone. Nothing you ask Nova leaves your device. On-device processing is handled by Apple's frameworks under Apple's own privacy protections; we never see your questions or your answers.

5. Does anything touch the internet?

Almost everything Stargazer does — the live sky, the planets, the Moon, the facts, the bundled imagery — is computed or stored right on your device and works offline. A few optional extras (such as live stargazing conditions from a weather service, or downloading additional imagery) make a plain internet request when you use them. Those requests carry no account, no identifier and no profile of you, and nothing about you comes back to us — we still receive, store and keep nothing.

6. Children & schools

Stargazer is rated 4+ and designed to be safe for children, with a built-in Kids Mode. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it complies with Apple's Kids-category guidelines, COPPA (US), the Australian Privacy Act 1988, and GDPR where applicable. Schools can deploy it through Apple School Manager and Volume Purchase with no data collected from a single student.

7. Apple & the App Store

Stargazer is distributed through the App Store, and Apple may collect information as part of a download per Apple's privacy policy. Since we collect no personal information, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete — your data simply does not exist on any server of ours.

8. Changes & contact

If this policy ever changes, the effective date above is updated. Questions can be directed to hello [at] kendalslack [dot] com. See also our general privacy policy and Terms of Use.
